Spiral Lamp

The concept of the spiral lamp was developed entirely by playing and experimenting with pieces of slit paper in 3D. No sketches were ever made. The lamp is made from a single sheet of slit material. By bending it together and intermeshing it with itself, the intricate shell is formed. It explores the interaction between light and matter, the impassable and the transmissive, flat and voluminous, and growing the complex from the simple.
