The design Studio of Yusuke Hayashi and Yoko Yasunishi, DRILL DESIGN specializes in product design, but also designs graphics, packaging and retail exhibition spaces.
They approach problems from many different directions to generate flexible design solutions.

ずっと気になっていたウインザーチェアーというジャンルの椅子をリデザインした。
ディテールではなく、構造体そのものが持っているどこか懐かしい幸せな雰囲気を取り出したいと考えてデザインした小椅子。
装飾と構成部材を極力最小限に抑え、部材の角度と太さだけで特徴を持たせた。
We re-design a category of chair called 'Windsor Chair' in which we have been interested.
The design of the small chair intends to extract not its original detail but some kind of essences of sweetness and happiness from its structure.
Our design minimizes decorations and components while its profile is characterized only by its original angles between the members and its thickness.
こういう家具を考えてくださいというお題も、ターゲットも、コスト制限も、締め切りもなく、とにかく自分の興味があるジャンルの欲しい椅子を素直に思い浮かべて、原寸模型を何回も繰り返しながら作った新しい椅子です。
好きなことを自主的に時間をかけて構築していくのは本当に幸せなことです。
There was no demands, targets, limit of budget and dead lines during this design development. This new chair was made by just visualizing in our mind an image of which category of chair interests us and what kind of chair we honestly wanted, and then by repeating real size modeling.
We were so happy to actively spend our time for creating our own preferable thing.
